Trump Disrespected The Flag Last Night By Refusing To Stand & Salute It While Military Song Played

We are all aware of the controversy President Trump caused when he attacked NFL players for “disrespecting” the flag by kneeling during the National Anthem at football games.

Well, it seems that Trump’s hypocrisy truly knows no bounds, as he refused to stand, salute and honor the flag last night during his Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, instead opting to make jokes about the traditional military song honoring the flag instead.

You really have to see it to believe it, due to the mind bending level of hypocrisy here.

During Trump’s interview with Hannity at Pennsylvania Air National Guard base, the nightly playing of “Retreat” began, with the American flag being lowered to honor it.

The song is played every night to honor the flag and signify the end of the official duty day.

Military site Task and Purpose confirmed that uniformed service members are required to stop what they’re doing and salute the flag as it’s lowered during the song, while civilians are required to salute the flag with a traditional placing of their hand over their heart.

As the song started playing, Trump joked to Hannity and asked, “Are they playing that for you or for me?” Trump then said that, “They’re playing that in honor of his ratings. He’s beating everybody.” Some in the crowd could be seen standing for the song in the background.

You can see it all in the footage below.

Trump obviously was not aware of why the song “Retreat” was being played, which is to be expected from someone who has never served in the military.

The problem however, is that the song clearly sounds like a traditional military song to anyone with common sense, and Trump chose to make jokes during it regardless, even after saying, “what a nice sound that is.”

Even though he may have unwittingly disrespected the flag, he still did so, by talking through the song, failing to stop what he was doing, and put his hand over his heart.
