Trump’s EPA Chief Says Carbon Dioxide Isn’t a Top Cause of Climate Change – Science Disagrees

The EPA Is In The Hands Of Climate Change Denying Scott Pruitt. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Apparently, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, who has a background as a lawyer, feels that he has a better understanding of the issues of global warming and climate change than the vast majority of scientists on the planet.

As The Hill reports, Scott Pruitt, the EPA chief, told CNBC on Thursday that as far as he is concerned carbon dioxide isn’t the primary cause of global warming, completely contradicting the finding of his own agency!

“I think that measuring with precision human activity on the climate is something very challenging to do and there’s tremendous disagreement about the degree of impact. So no, I would not agree that it’s a primary contributor to the global warming that we see.”

So, once again, Scott Pruitt, a LAWYER, thinks he understands global warming and its causes better than those who have spent their lives dedicated to the science behind it?

A host of government agencies, including NASA, assert the exact opposite of Pruitt’s non-factual beliefs.

NASA draws an absolute direct connection between the rise on carbon dioxide levels and the rise of global temperatures and a simple look at this chart from their website makes it pretty darn clear.

As the New York Times points out, a report by NASA in conjunction with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration made it quite clear that yes, carbon dioxide IS the main problem when it comes to global warming.

“The planet’s average surface temperature has risen about 2.0 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions into the atmosphere.”

According to the Independent, a group of 22 professors at MIT sent a letter to Trump telling him straight out that, yes, carbon dioxide is a primary cause of global warming after another rogue professor who holds a fringe view on the issue said the President should get out of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

“The risks to the Earth system associated with increasing levels of carbon dioxide are almost universally agreed by climate scientists to be real ones. These include, but are not limited to, sea level rise, ocean acidification, and increases in extreme flooding and droughts, all with serious consequences for mankind.”

So, why on earth would Scott Pruitt, a lawyer with no scientific background, be pulling this stunt? Oh right, because he has a long running hate for the very agency he is now in charge of. And, it is the very agency that Trump has had it out for from day one and promised to kill off during his campaign.
